of a crime. Wah Wai Sze was a name listed at the bottom of a webpage and
to make matters worse, the name was listed under the Internet White pages.
If any crime was actually committed, it was AOL's customer service ranting
about phone numbers. Its amazing just how much information one can attain
over the internet! As for obtaining an address from an email address, unless
the address is listed under a number of listserves and news publications
with a common reference, its virtually impossible to find out who someone
actually is. Take hotmail for instance; You can actually write your name
in as Jack Ripper and place an address that is completely foreign. Anonymity
is an interesting concept when one can afford its protection. And whether
or not you agree, you've heard another addition of, "Its the Truth."

person's mailing address is not that of a minor (under the age of 18) it
is completely legal. The white pages on the internet are used for registered
public addresses for those persons over the age of 18. The public address
listed is exactly listed in the White pages. It belongs to an addressee
over the age of 18. Now then, I along with several of my friends saved
every last remark in regards to the defamation or slandering of my son,
a minor, under the age of 18. By doing that, the webhost was responsible
for the site material and therefore suffers the legal consequences. Now
that I know who the board administrator is, legal fines can be produced.

Hmmm.....from what I've read so far it
seems the bashing of Luttiano has prompted me to stand in for his defense.
It seems many of you know something about his family that isn't common
knowledge (i.e real name, address, phone numbers, etc). Do you know that
this is infringement of privacy and that you stand to be prosecuted. Threatening
even via discussion groups is no different than orally defaming a person
which can be liable for litigation. Let me give you all some advice.....stop
before you do something you may regret. I have prosecuted several internet
defamation cases with good success. Think about it before you type it.
I'm not here to ruffle any feathers but a few of you asked me to post something
before it gets worse. If you have a problem work it out in private but
don't resort to posting personal information just because you hate someone.
How would you feel if I said Bel is wanted by the Justice Department for
displaying child pornograghy? It's not true, but if I didn't say so, it

ago? I was wondering, why is this link still up when Bel's homepage actually
links directly to the GS3 News board? It seems to me that the new link
is much better than this one but that Bel keeps this board up to harrass
others? The Webmasters that monitor the GS3 News board won't put up with
this sort of Nonsense and if a continuation of this sort of abuse doesn't
halt, I'm going to ask the Webmaster for the GS3 site to remove Bel's link.
Its obvious she seems to have a problem and the real Gemstone players won't
tolerate this sort of nonsense taking place on the GS3 news board.

I have to agree with Imp. If this is the
real Mad Prince of Denmark and you are working with Bel to control a link
to a webpage and the webpage connects to a larger more secure link, why
maintain this link? It appears that the administrator has every power in
his/her grasp to remove a link and/or create a more secure interface. Internet
laws are very sketchy at best. As for defamation, which I'm assuming you
will be using that clause under a legal term, the rule doesn't apply to
persons over the age of 18. I know exactly what most attorneys will say
because I've spoken to my own. This is a warning to Bel/MPoD, I've recorded
all bulletins weekly and have spoken to the previous administrators (linkexchange)
about the problems of this message board. They keep a data base that spans
a period of 90 days before they delete anything. In the case of someone
calling them directly and reporting a serious problem, they place a hold
on the data to keep it from being deleted. I can cross reference the bulletins
I saved with the bulletins that were posted to show that Bel as acting
administrator allowed a minor to be defamed and this constitutes a legal
action. Push the issue and continue to threaten with legal consequences
and you WILL hear from my attorney. This is the last warning.

administrative purposes has the same exact email. Is this just a common

Oh by the way, let me explain about some
.org, .gov, and intricately interfaced corporate networks and how email,
IP proxies work. First, the network begins and ends on a domain. The domain
issues a roving IP address that matches the firewall, not the computer
being used. The network issues the firewall IP and tosses the person out
into the cloud (internet). Any claims that a person can pull an email from
this way is completely false. Domain names are referenced but email addresses
are private! The reason a firewall is placed up is so that any person(s)
that try to reattach to the original network server find themselves standing
in front of it. Its amazing how idiotic some of you supposed computer literate
people are supposed to be. Go back to computer school! Learn how to operate
a mouse first.

By the way, I saw "Phantom" raving about
how the internet is private or something to the effect. First of all, all
IP's are recorded by ISP. If you have a dialup, the IP used is recorded
by account name, by Federal Law. Any internet transaction can be traced
back to the sender, no matter how many bounces or spoofs you do. Secondly,
Email is not private. Many ISPs actually log email's, for legal purposes,
for a certain time durration. Also, there are numerous ways to actually
ferret for specific email ID's on the Internet. It takes great skill, and
an extremely fast connection and computer set up, so whoever would be doing
it, wouldn't care about some little 13 year old sending death threats to
Big bird.

Marty Schottenheimer quit as coach of
the Kansas City Chiefs today following a season in which his team was one

I understand you have no control over
the fetuses that post on here. That's fine and well. But if you want this
to be a serious or semi-serious discussion, you are going to have to learn
some new computer skills and do like many other bulletin boards do; where
you have no choice but to give your email address. I'll beat the dead horse
just a little bit more: it's getting old. I've been stopping by off and
on. Mainly off, as I have, up until the Prince linked you, never known
a single person who posted on this board. At least seven months now. It's
been a fairly adequate discussion of Gemstone, but since the Luttiano thing
came up a month or two ago, it's pretty much been drug time at the insane
asylum. So I strongly, strongly suggest you find some way to figure out
how to get this bulletin board up and running more professionally. Otherwise
I'm forced to read the GS boards, and that's downright unappealing.

really said some disparaging remarks, some very uncomplimentary remarks
about Bel. My sources tell me that Bel gave Mr. Luttiano a telephone call,
and boy was there some back pedaling on that one. Luttiano took no responsibility,
said it wasn't his idea, said he was made to do it by his son, who is totally
whacked. And Luttiano went on to explain his thoughts on his son to Bel,
and you can imagine what those were.

First of all Jeurth, I don't have an underground
gs3 site anymore. I decided, unlike a few others, that if I wasn't going
to play gemstone anymore, I didn't need to have a dedicated site to it
anymore. If you research where that site used to be, you will find that
its dedicated to AD&D. AD&D is 100 times better than the poor programming
the incompetent gms place in gemstone. As for imagery, well most of the
gms should go back to creative writing 101. As for who walked me around
when I first came into gemstone? There were 4 people at different times
that I truly called my friends. Oghier Sleepytoes now a gm; Strom; Otterex;
and Fivel. Thalior I never truly liked. He is a slave master in and out
of the game. He never liked me after he found out Tiala spoke to me about
his sad life. Although he has changed considerably, he is still a frail
personality at best. I was actually sad to see that Rtune decided to join
his staff.

Finding out an IP address is as simple
as looking it up under Internic. American Registry for Internet Numbers
- whois.arin.net European IP Address Allocations - whois.ripe.net Asia
Pacific IP Address Allocations - whois.apnic.net US Military - whois.nic.mil
US Government - whois.nic.gov The only problem with most IP addresses that
are .org, .gov, or assigned to a roving proxy is that they are either attached
to a firewall where the actual machine the person is using cannot be found,
or in the case of aol's proxy, the proxy is used to ease the tension on
the server by freeing up resources on the backbone of the network. When
a proxy is assigned, its very safe to say that the person goes unnoticed
unless you have some very good information skills. Hope this helps.

etc. QUE makes a number of books which pertain to the internet and networking.
A program which you can use that helps with whois IP/Domain lookups is
WinWhoIs for Microsoft Windows 3.x and Winsock. This program is a simple
yet old program written by David Brown in the Summer of 93. Koichi Nishitani
added some internic features during the winter of 94 and its probably the
smallest program you can load for network queries.

The Puppetmaster
Throughout the roller coaster course of
this web page, it has always stood for the same thing, and the same principles-
Break free from the Simu Corruption. While many of our readers will strongly
agree that GS3 itself is a great game, I just wish things weren't so. These
things could include, the people who run it, the people who destroy the
RP enviroment, the lack of new things to do, and poorly thought out "RPing"
events for the players of a once great game. So why if GS3 lacked all of
these important qualities, would anyone continue to play? Simply because
there is nothing better to do. Untill now. Realms of Exile (or RoE), offers
people the chance to play a MUD game as it should be played. I would like
to think of this game as everything gemstone could never be, and more.
Excellent staff, your ideas posted on the boards DO impact what changes
are made in the game, altered and scripted items that are esstential for
RPing the way YOU want to RP are not a rarity. Items and spells that GS3
has promised you for years, are already a reality in Roe. And much more.
Roe is still in Alpha testing stages (pre-beta), but not for long. Beta
testing will open sometime in January. Since this game is so early in development,
players in the early stages -will- have the chance to become one of the
greats. They -will- have the chance to sculpt their legends and carve their
names into immortality. I don't think i can express this enough, but Roe
stands for role playing most of all. If you are considering applying for
beta, but not being a serious RPer, reading this post has just been a waste
of your time. The staff will be doing their part to provide a top notch
game for people to play, and it's up to the players to set the standards.
We all have to do our parts. With all of that being said, I extend a open
hand to anyone who wants to play a serious RPing game. My invintation goes
out to all. Perhaps the next time you get feed up with the way things are
working out in GemStone- you will know you have a alternative. And perhaps
all the suggestions throughout this page to improve GS3, will me moved
over into Roe. Only time can tell. Till then, I'll see you on the other
side.

Alas, it's easier to criticize than build.
And we're taking the easy road. What you're missing out on, if anything,
are the opportunities Simutronics itself is missing in terms of creating
engaging gameplay. The sense I, and other players -- current and former
-- of Simutronics' games is simply this: That Simutronics has fallen on
hard times, and that its games are suffering from benign neglect, lack
of vision with respect to integrating its products with the Internet, non-existent
marketing and sloppy customer service. All of these factors deprive Simutronics
of the cash it badly needs to improve its products. As a consequence, long-time
players, enticed by the promise of future service roll-outs are left disappointed.
In my opinion, Simutronics is caught in that awkward stage between MUD
and commercial entity, and it's having a hard time making that shift. For
example: Do its GMs treat customers like children, or do they treat them
like paying customers. I grant you, it's a hard line to draw. My experience
with Simutronics tells me they're not drawing it in the right place. There
are other issues -- world expansion, fleshed out classes, microquests,
and the like. Simu is, perhaps, doing the best it can. Whether Simu's best
is worth your bottom dollar is a matter of personal debate. My two cents?
No. It's not worth it. But make your own judgements. I'm just an embittered
customer of three years.

things though. You overcame an addiction and admitted it publicly. No one

downspiraled you, it was yourself. You committed to an untruth that you

addiction to an extreme. You felt betrayed inwardly and you struck out
against everything Gemstone related. The only closure you should contemplate

I loathe the game now, even though I played
for two years. It took my life away from me, and I'll never know what kind
of oppotunities passed me while I sat here addicted to a silly game on
the net. But I can't deny the fact that some of my closest and most sincere
friends were met there. And the feeling I got when I first stepped into
the place was something I'll never be able to describe. I couldn't handle
it though, it became an addiction all too easily. It's all too easy for
quite a few people, and they lose that sense of wonder they first have,
and it becomes nothing more than scrolling words on a screen that you just
have to look at for some reason.

When I originally started making my website
I tried to find a theme and througout the process thought about posting
logs, etc. that would be negative. I've decided not to do this. I changed
my theme. I support the Antigemstone3 staff for their belief in a freedom
of speech website and board that concerns issues that players, gms, and
the like should talk about. While flaming doesn't really accomplish anything
it does allow emotions to peak and most people express themselves more
truthfully when angry. (i.e. the no holds barred mentality - I do this
also). I don't agree with how Gemstone is moving in its future at the moment,
but I don't want to fault the GMs or the players for its reasoning. I would
rather change my own thinking a little bit into trying to resolve some
of the problems so that everyone (including myself) is happier. It seems
to me that the global handshaking of players that used to unite to form
positive reinforcing of goals has diminished greatly. I too, have been
at fault and for that I will apologize to you players and gms that have
tried to make the game a pleasurable one. I will however, not stop believing
in the strong voice of reason when concerning certain topics I believe
are not good for roleplaying. So in this account, I have changed my website
theme but not title. It will still be called "Underground News" and support
links to all player/gm sites including The Antigemstone3 Website. I believe
what the Antigemstone3 site is doing is not bad but rather a strongly voiced
opinion shaped from (many) players' views depicting a downfall spiral of
Gemstone in an overview. I would appreciate feedback from players/gms alike
concerning my website which will now be up in two weeks due to custom changing.
The topics on my site will include helpful programs benefiting GS players,
News concerning projects/updates from gms and ETA status, answers to mysteries
about global areas in elanthia such as Darkstone, the undercrypt in the
GY, the broken lands area, teras, etc., very interesting logs about in-game
experiences, and a feedback section on (Free Speech troubleshooting for
game mechanics and communication aspects concerning role playing and the

The Funeral of Barachado
Lady Motoko and Barachado's relative had
private funeral ceremony at Barachado's village, in a castle in Ebisu,
Shibuya in Wehnimer's Landing from 1:30pm on Tuesday, February 2. All the
local warriors and magic users saw Barachado off at the dock, then his
coffin with Lady Motoko was carried to the crematory on a hearse. His ashes
were carried back to his mansion this evening, and Lady Motoko and relative
have just had another ceremony tonight

The more I think about it the more I realize
that the Internet is becoming a very terrible place. Yesterday the Elanthian
Wizard's Chamber was shut down due to "copyright violations." All this
simple website did was make the numbers and descriptions of the wizard
spells accessible in a nice organized fashion. Now the owners of the site
are being interrogated and being introduced to the possibility of facing
a jail sentence and a receiving a fine. Only for posting freakin descriptions
of spells! Simutronics claims that they are losing money from this, which
is the most asinine thing I have ever heard in my life (and I have heard
some really ignorant things in my time I tell ya!). Stupid rules and regulations
on transmitting harmless data (and yes I know that isn't a complete sentence
:-). Simutronics claims it has a huge impact in the long run, but the numbers
don't show it at all. It was understandable with password sniffers and
account crashers to have legal penalties to go with the distribution of
them since they are technically illegal... but spell descriptions? The
Internet was a nice place when it first started. So much information was
easily accessible, but now everything is being tagged with a copyright.
Great new technologies in multimedia have been oppressed by rules and regulations,
and now even simple text documents are being taken away. The really funny
thing is that everyone talks about the Internet being the wave of the future
and a part of everyday life. Well at this rate there will be nothing left
of it, and it will be just a useless network that has kiddie porn and e-mail.
All the important data will be gone all because the world is in it for
the all mighty dollar. You know the world is horrible when they start to
put a price tag on knowledge. I can go on and on and on and on... but I
won't.

Guild (link withheld due to fear of banishment) that the ISP hosting the
site received email from Simutronics legal department asking them to remove
the GemStone 3 logo at the top of the page. Let this be a warning to all
fan-created sites about the lengths to which Simu will go in order to protect
their copyrights. If you have any Simu-created images on your page you
may want to remove them.

Slammer is a term used in lots of muds,
not just GS. It refers to someone who logs off to escape death and/or other
undesirable situations. It's pretty cheesy, in a cowardly sort of way.
I think the cut'n'pasted previous message was posted after Aephir got tired
of Jamousii logging to avoid death in the rift (which means a decay, often
as not), and had a whole slew of critters come after him when he returned,
or somesuch. Lots of people do that in fire elementals and the lower eye
of V'tull, too. From what I hear, Kailani turned it into an art form; Neimanz
is pretty good at it, too. Doesn't really bother me one way or the other;
I just think it's pretty cheap, but it's not like anyone over five trainings
has never had a death due to lag or whatever. Slamming is just the other
side of the coin. It is against Simu policy, but they'll probably figure
a way to make it stick about the same time they can guarantee 100% delightful
server response.

Its from one of their modules and was given to a special halfling fighter
brigand. I actually liked the name but Mannimark is not my character anymore.
He is off in the void somewhere. To the poster of this message: I see that
your creativity shows no boundaries. Unlike you, I don't put two names
together and say "Oh wow. Manny + Mark = Mannimark! Plagiarism is not derived
from names people. Explicitly written in the National Copyright laws, a
name from a book is not considered plagiarism. The ideas and background
which surround the Authors writing style are assumed to take that particular
reference. Mannimark does not even follow the original Mannimark. In the
module, Mannimark the halfling was a fighter who ambushed for a living
and used two daggers. Mannimark in Gemstone used a crossbow and was one
of the best halfling fighters in the game. I left the game when he was
30th level. At that level, his AS was 345. cYaLatr.

I had to put another note in here. Manny
is a sorcerer who is chiefly responsible for Twilight Hall. Mark is a wizard
who used to belong to Twilight Hall. In regards to both characters: I like
both characters in particular but Manny's name is the only name I find
creative. I was around when Mark was barely growing up, and the name Mannimark
which I first presented, was around a year prior to the time that I ever
even began to notice the name of Mark. As for well written names, the character
names that I have had over the years are the following: Tylarik Elfissa,
Stryllan Proudfoot, Laedril Rylond, Elric Ravensbane, Shantellina Hammersmein,
Mayleah Faeleen, Luttiano Draghelm, Provsul Trannash, Aileandra Taidere,
and many many more. A great many close friends of mine enjoyed the way
I created characters so much, they would allow me to log on to their accounts
and create a character for them. I would then provide a detailed background
with a personal disposition and a few tips on how to roleplay their character.
It was up to them whether or not they wholly accepted the new character,
but I never received one complaint.

Amateur fencing champion, Matthias Fostel
suffered an apparent serious neck injury as the result of a freak accident
at the Simutronics GemStone 3 convention in St. Louis on Sunday night.
During a duel pitting Fostel against merchant Joranis, Fostel took an awkward
tumble over a folding chair (which one report said seemed to collapse)
to the floor. He was thrown back into the duel and after some discussion
among the judges, was quickly disqualified. The bystanders cleared out,
and for 20 minutes, Fostel received medical attention, being placed in
a cervical brace and wheeled to an ambulance. Bels BBB and its readers
send out best wishes to Fostel, and hope that he is on the path to a safe
recovery!

join R.O.E. was largely due to the fact I wanted to see how well it emerged
as an online roleplaying game. I do trust the people that Thalior has hired
thus far, especially Rtune. He is an invaluable resource as well as a diverse
roleplayer and I suspect he will help out greatly when it comes to project

Like I said, R.O.E. might be decent, but

I must comment on Robin's manipulating
use of internet tactics. First, she launches the carefully hidden search
engine called Infoseek and searches for pages that contain the hard to
spell name of Luttiano. Second, with the utmost skill she searches and
reads every page, scanning for carefully UN-hidden names and writes them
down. Last, with the skill that only she could muster, she pulls up Luttiano's
web posted name and using that reference gathers up a post office box address
and a phone number! I must say that by looking at Robin's skills of finding
out known information, I would compare her internet relationship skills
to that of a bad Godzilla movie. heh.

My name is Joel Dezenzio. I am a science
fiction fantasy writer as well as an avid gamer. I have enjoyed my adventures
here in Gemstone now for 5 years running. I am also known as the Gemstone
Phantom. I made a message board for the Anti Gemstone 3 site. Then I found
I could no longer let it continue, for my love of Gemstone was too strong.
So I deleted the message board. However, all these long, lonely months
have caused the bitterness inside me to grow. I spammed this board. I posted
Bels real name and address. I made the new AGS3 site. I can't leave Gemstone

hand for firing so that we don't have to take 4 steps to shoot?, 3)By having
most of the older undead immune to puncture wounds, you take the voln aspect
out of archery. Will that be changed????

At current knowledge, Crossbows are seen
as blunt items in purpose of defending, but bows are not, unless this has
been fixed. Can we syncrhonize these two so they reflect archery as a whole
and place them (both) in the blunt category? And why not just allow ranged
skill users the ability to defend in either hand, seeing as we have to
cross our weapon hands , change stances, kneel and fire..etc

Joel Dezenzio, 33, who made his debut
as "Phantom" and "Lord Luttiano" in Gemstone, committed suicide Tuesday
morning. According to the Kansas Constitution, Dezenzio died from a self-inflicted
gunshot wound. Apparently he shot himself in the head with a .38-caliber
pistol in the kitchen of his home at 8:40am. Dezenzio's girlfriend, who
was home at the time, told police that Joel had been distraught about losing
his job and family several weeks ago.
